Ok, so I have confirmed that this issue does not exist in the generic
linux version of LibreOffice but is still present in the LibreOffice
4.0.1 availiable in the PPA. Not sure how to this gets fixed for the
Ubuntu community at large as the problem has been resolved upstream but

To clarify, the openoffice PDFImport extension (manually downloaded
version: 1.0.4) can be installed directly through the Extension Manager
(no need to first install the LibreOffice PDFImport and then manually
replace the files in /usr/lib/libreoffice/share/extensions/pdfimport).

Confirmed the fix from #11 above works. In summary, this seems to be a
regression and replacing the contents with the openoffice extension
(modify date of 2010-12-14 on that one) solves it. I'll add the same

You can fix this by downloading the pdf-import from openoffice (
http://extensions.services.openoffice.org/project/pdfimport ). I just
replaced the files in /usr/lib/libreoffice/share/extensions/pdfimport/
with this from openoffice and had the images back.

I also can confirm this bug under Linux Mint 13 (maya) with LibreOffice
Version 3.6.0.2 (Build ID: 360m1(Build:102)) which I updated because the
LibreOffice Version in the official repository has the same bug.
