Please read carefuly what I write. KDM works, but allows me to login just in 1
of 5 attempts to anything else than XFCE.
LightDM doesn't work at all - it doesn't even start - all I get is black screen.

when having the issue with kdm could you also add the .xsession-errors
from a buggy session on the bug? but it just seems the issue not lightdm
if you get non starting sessions with KDM, it seems you still hit a
similar issue after login, so it could be that any 3d use with your
drivers are non
Could you summarize your issues then, the comments mixing KDM, lightdm,
unity, gnome-shell, etc issue are just impossible to follow. Could you
also add your /var/log/lightdm/lightdm.log to the bug?

lightdm stopped
And new information - after reboot KDM works but doesn't allow me to go
to Unity/Unity 2D/Gnome 3 shell.. only xfce works. :)
