[1015PEM, Realtek ALC269VB, Mic, Internal] Pulseaudio fails to detect
card
To manage notifications about this bug go to:
should i also file report for [1015PEM, Realtek ALC269VB, Speaker,
Internal] Pulseaudio fails to detect card? or is this bug report
sufficient to cover the two?

THis bug is sufficient for both.
I see you are not running the altest kernel. I suggest you install all
the latest updates from precise-updates, reboot, and check to see
whether your card shows up in pavucontrol and the sound settings window,
accessible from the sound menu icon in the top right
how do i get the lastest kernel? when i do sudo apt-get dist-upgrade or
check updates available..., i see no option to upgrade the kernel.

Title:
If you run update-manager, it will check for the latest updates, and
give you a list of updates to install. You then choose to install the
updates, and updates will be installed, including the kernel.
