With the 3.5.4 package now being out, I no longer experience this crash.
but GTK has also been updated so IDK if it was from the new version of
Anjuta or because of an update to GTK but either way this bug is fixed
so I am going to make it fixed.

Looks like a crash deep inside gtk+ so I assume it is an Ubuntu-specific
problem in the theming engine.
