This firmware is delivered in the linux image package now. This bug
should be resolved in the latest Precise images as they are using the
newer Quantal kernel.
Do you recall which Precise image they tested? Can you test latest
Precise daily image to confirm this bug no longer exists?

Am I correct in assuming that this bug has only been corrected for
quantal, eventhough precise is the LTS? This error also occurs with the
HP dl360g2 server when PXE booting with ubuntu 12.04 amd64 server
version.

Why do you need installer team feedback? If it's firmware required by a
module you ship in udebs, you should just ship the firmware in udebs
too; that's pretty uncontroversial.
(BTW, ubiquity is the desktop installer, not the text-mode
alternate/server installer which is debian-installer.)
