Public bug reported: When trying to upgrade to 12.04, the update manager fails and gives me the following report:
An unresolvable problem occurred while calculating the upgrade: E:Error, pkgProblemResolver::Resolve generated breaks, this may be caused by held packages. This can be caused by: * Upgrading to a pre-release version of Ubuntu * Running the current pre-release version of Ubuntu * Unofficial software packages not provided by Ubuntu If none of this applies, then please report this bug using the command 'ubuntu-bug update-manager' in a terminal. I've checked the /var/log/dist-upgrade/apt.log file but there are a number of broken packages and I'm not sure which I need to remove. Some have mentioned removing the ‘libcv-dev’ package but I don't see that listed in the apt.log ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 10.04 Package: update-manager 1:0.134.12.1 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.32-41.91-generic 2.6.32.59+drm33.24 Uname: Linux 2.6.32-41-generic i686 NonfreeKernelModules: wl Architecture: i386 Date: Tue Jul 17 14:01:41 2012 GConfNonDefault: /apps/update-manager/check_new_release_ignore= /apps/update-manager/first_run=false /apps/update-manager/show_versions=false /apps/update-manager/window_size=(600,600) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 9.10 "Karmic Koala" - Release i386 (20091028.2) PackageArchitecture: all ProcEnviron: LANG=en_US.utf8 SHELL=/bin/bash SourcePackage: update-manager VarLogDistupgradeTermlog: ** Affects: update-manager (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: apport-bug dist-upgrade i386 lucid -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1025812 Title: Cannot upgrade to 12.04 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/update-manager/+bug/1025812/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
