I am not sure usplash can re-scan on boot: at this point in time there
is not much already recognised... I will check around.

Bug appears fixed with the released of Feisty. Did 2 fresh installs with
the alternate CD and its been correct both times.

My install never hanged but the usplash was always 1024x768 and then
switched to 1280x1024 (native) when my desktop appeared. I followed the
OP instructions and it worked like a charm. One note about my setup is
that after installation, I had to manually change xorg.conf to allow for
the correct re
I changed the panel itself. The lower part of the LCD crazed over, as
happens with many dell laptops. The original panel was a WUXGA
(1920x1200), but a replacement for that is too expensive. Hence I bought
a WXGA+ (1440x900) screen.
This screen was detected immediately by the BIOS, and also by X w
