The system was using a HDA Intel (Alsa Mixer) Card Steps to Reproduce 1. Open Volume Control 2. Click Edit Preferences 3. Select all boxes in "Tracks to be visible" 4. Raise volume of all tracks 5. Leave input source as "Mic" 6. Select 0 switches 7. Press Close 8.
