I've a Canon MP130 which also has a memory card reader. Whenever I turn
it on, the memory card reader is "seen" as a hard disk. However, that
isn't a big deal except that Ubuntu keeps trying to "read" and "write"
to it and since there isn't any data card slotted in, this results in
plenty of errors, during system bootup and also in syslog.  Also note if
the MP130 is on during a boot up, it might result in a crash(possibly a
kernel crash).

Also note that I used to have Dapper installed and this issue occurred
on it too. I'm now running Feisty Fawn, by the way.

I've seen this thread and I'm not sure if it's related to my issue.
