I wonder if we can do some tricks to reduce memory consumption during
installation, e.g. disable slideshow, if it turns out memory hungry,
etc.

Just talked to a user who was having ubiquity problems with 768MB of
RAM. I asked and he thinks he was running the installer with the OS
booted in LiveCD mode
