I can't test -proposed because this bug never happened for me before Quantal, and I don't have a pre-Quantal VM handy (and not enough disk space to easily spin up a new guest). However, I did a full upgrade on my Quantal VM, removed the /etc/modules workaround and the module got properly loaded on
