For me it happens every time I try to copy files to my pen drive. The difference I see in the panel is the copy file progress within the folder icon. While the copy is in progress, the unity-panel-service takes almost the 100% of the CPU usage. I have a laptop with an NVIDIA graphic card

Just upgraded to libreoffice 1:3.6.1~rc2-1ubuntu3 which seems ro have solved this load issue. However, LO does nolonger respect disabling of the globalmenu (UBUNTU_MENUPROXY=0) and still draws the menubar in the unity panel. This in turn leaves other shells, e.g gnome classic, without an LO
