does anybody still get this issue and could describe easy steps to
trigger it on intrepid? the browser view is refreshed immediatly when
changing the preference option there

I've just tried with an install from yesterday, no need to restart
nautilus to get the setting applied, the next window opened respect it

I confirm that I noticed this behaviour in Feisty, beta.
On the configuration part: I changed the preference to show files as lists
rather than icons. No other settings were changed.

Thanks for your bug report.
Actually, I notice that toggling the Preferences option for hidden files
on/off always requires a re-launch of nautilus to take effect, not
necessarily only when enabling hidden files. It is interesting to note
that the shortcut ctrl-h updates the listing immediately.
