Yes this was about eightBitMeta, thank you for pointing me rigth
direction.
When eightBitMeta=true (this is default)
alt+dot = ® (Registered trademark)
alt+0 = ° (degree)
alt+q = ñ
and there are many of these accented characters.
When eightBitMeta=false (in bash)
(xterm -xrm '*eightBitInput: f
If "sounds like" is correct, then this bug should be closed.
