been abandoned since 2007. The man pages clearly refer to vloopback
being required, but the links are broken. It takes some serious
searching to even find the particular vloopback module this package
needs (yet is not included

dv4l is not compatible with v4l2loopback-dkms (which I think is derived
from the original vloopback).
dv4lstart doesn't appear to work, either (a problem with LD_PRELOAD or
the so being loaded?)
At any rate, dv4l is entirely unusable on a 64 bit machine for 12.04 and
12.10.
