Public bug reported: CD drive stopped working after upgrade from Edgy to Feisty(herd 5)
I didn't notice this problem until I tried to use a cd. Then I noticed that when I put a cd in the drive, it doesn't spin or anything. It will still spin when I first turn it on, or if I boot into windows, but not linux. I noticed that my /etc/fstab/ points to /dev/hdc, but that no longer exists. Furthermore, "dmesg | grep -i cd-rom" gives no output, and "df -h" doesn't mention a CD Drive either. Gateway support website says the cd drive is called a "Mitsumi 20X/48X IDE CD-ROM Rev. 1" Steps to Reproduce 1. Upgrade computer to Feisty herd 5 2. Try to use a cd Tell me what additional info I need and I'll put it up.
