Public bug reported: Release: 12.10 (Quantal Beta1) Package hplip: Installed: 3.12.6-3ubuntu1
I'm unable to install the drivers for the hp2600nn printer under Quantal. This used to work under 12.04 (I think). I have a clean install of 12.10 . Ran hp-setup under sudo: sudo hp-setup -g It detects the printer (as well as my OfficeJet printer). Both are net- connected. When I select the printer to install, it offers to download the printer driver, and I accept. I get the license page, which I also accept. The plug-in installation seems to succeed. The first time there was a dialog that it couldn't confirm the signature but I told it to go ahead anyway. However, after installing the plugin, it won't use it. The dialog box informing me reads: The printer you are trying to setup requires a binary driver plug-in and it failed to install. Please check your internet connection and try again. Visit http://hplipopensource.com for more infomation [sic]. When running with debug logging, this message appears on stdout: hp-setup[31795]: debug: Done. hp-setup[31795]: debug: Plug-in installation successful. hp-setup[31795]: debug: Done. hp-setup[31795]: debug: Unable to open file /var/lib/hp/hplip.state for reading. hp-setup[31795]: debug: Plugin is not installed error: The printer you are trying to setup requires a binary driver plug-in and it failed to install. Please check your internet connection and try again. Visit http://hplipopensource.com for more infomation. Note: there is no /var/lib/hp directory on my system. However, after I ran 'mkdir /var/lib/hp', a subsequent attempt succeeded. I'll attach the full log. ** Affects: hplip (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1055521 Title: hp-setup - unable to installl hp2600n printer To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/hplip/+bug/1055521/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
