I am seeing this problem (except I see :1.73 rather than :1.71) on a
system upgraded from Quantal. There is no ubuntuone-installer.desktop
file present and ubuntuone-control-panel-qt is not installed.

Is the problem for me actually the fact that the indicator has been installed
(presumably during the update from Quantal) even though I have not setup Ubuntu
One?
In fact for me there does not seem to be an obvious way of setting up Ubuntu
one. Is that a different bug?

The issue is with ubuntuone-client, it's using ubuntuone-
installer.desktop from ubuntuone-control-panel-qt without ensuring that
it's installed, there are some solutions there:
- provide a .desktop in ubuntuone-client that is used for the sync menu
- makes ubuntuone-client Depends on (or at leas

the .desktop file provided by the client. In U1's case, that's the file
"ubuntuone-installer.desktop".

restart indicator-sync daemon), it's now better :)

Well, it means it's invalid for the "The Sync Menu" component of this
ticket.
My guess is that the Ubuntu packaging component is invalid too and that
it was a configuration problem on your system. However let's confirm
that the .desktop file is installed by default for users who have the
Sync Menu
It seems I also this bug with the Gnome-Panel (or a dependence is
missing?)

Hm, I'm not sure what the issue is here. indicator-loader3 is handling
libsyncindicator.so correctly, and it uses
indicator_object_new_from_file() too.
Just for comparison's sake, what happens when you load up an indicator
with indicator-loader3 on your system?
