i cannot update, because
- the lifecd of 7.04 does not allow sudo chroot -- i think this is a
bug, because it makes the life cd not usable for rescue operations

i now work on 6.10 - so i think adding the lspci.txt does not help.
could someone post a working new kernel? i cannot apt-get update,

i have only a edgy 6.10 installation running now, so i think the lspci -vv is
not useful.
but in case - here it is:
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ lspci -vv
00:00.0 Host bridge: Intel Corporation Mobile 915GM/PM/GMS/910GML Express
Processor to DRAM Controller (rev 04)
Subsystem: Fujitsu Limited.
The output of lspci, if the numeric switch is used, is the same
regardless of what kernel version you are using. The 2.6.20-15 version
of the kernel should be available now. Could you please update to it
and report back? Thanks!
