Yes, I have suspected that this might have something to do with. I use
"Document Viewer". However, this application otherwise works very well
(no problems whatsoever).

I just select the email (clicking once) in the upper pane to view it in
the lower pane. I have done this several times and the same
CPU-consuming behaviour always ensues.
I use Ubuntu 6.06.
