I reinstalled 12.10. the problem is still there. running ubuntu-bug alsa
results in a pop up window saying package alsa does not exist.

apport information
** Description changed:
After upgrading from 12.04 to 12.10, my sound recorder was unresponsive
when the record button was pushed. it was fixed with some updates. but
now, the sound recorder stops recording just after 40 minutes and hangs
with a message no input found.
How do I fix the ACPI errors? consider me a novice in ubuntu. I have
grant access to report all log files. they are all posted. let me know
what else to be done.

https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelTeam/KernelTeamBugPolicies#Capturing_OOPs
?
As well, could you please test the latest upstream kernel available following
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds
lot of acpi errors:
[ 13.348684] drm: registered panic notifier
[ 13.829800] ACPI Exception: AE_TIME, Returned by Handler for

[ 13.866563] ACPI Error: Method parse/execution failed
[\_SB_.PCI0.GFX0.DD02._BCM] (Node 880073777ed8),
Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer
to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest
v3.7 kernel[0] (Not a kernel in the daily directory) and install both
the linux-image and linux-image-extra .deb packages.
Once you've tested the
I have given the required input. Any update on this from anyone? :-(
