You might be better off switching to the nvidia-glx-new driver. Be careful if
you do decide to switch as switching back to nvidia-glx can lead to the hidden

Another note, normally running glxgears will cause an almost immediate
lockup. I disabled Desktop Effects, and have been running glxgears for
about 5 minutes now without a problem. So this might not be a nvidia
bug but one in compiz. Just a thought that might help.

I would like to also confirm that this is happening on my system too. I
did a clean install of 7.04, updated everything, and utilizing the
Nvidia drivers it will lock up to the point where I need to reboot.

Disregard earlier post. I've confirmed that my video card is dying due to the
nvidia 7900 series video memory corruption problem.
(I've found that this can occur under Microsoft Windows as well)

I have the same problems, started since the new kernel, 2.6.20.5-16.
Here's the NVRM: Xid messages from my kernel.log, a couple day's worth of
