Public bug reported: Most of the times I can connect to broadband mobile network via my 3G usb modem fine (except issue #1071853), but at random times the following happen:
- I am initially disconnected (e.g. because I had been using wifi), and "Enable Mobile Broadband" in the menu is checked - I click on the mobile broadband network I want to connect to which is in the list on the upper part of the menu - IMMEDIATELY a toast/popup/whatever-it's-called notification appears with the icon of the mobile broadband (antenna + signal strength bars) and the message "Disconnected" - When this happens once, then I can retry 100 times and it will systematically fail in the exact same way - unplugging and replugging the modem, waiting about half a minute and retrying will systematically fix the issue. This is not after issue 1071853 happening (otherwise, the MB network wouldn't even be in the menu to click on in the first place), and this is not when issue #1019395 is going on (I can roll over the "more networks" submenu and see the submenu non-empty) ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 12.04 Package: network-manager 0.9.4.0-0ubuntu4.2 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.2.0-33.52-generic 3.2.31 Uname: Linux 3.2.0-33-generic i686 NonfreeKernelModules: nvidia ApportVersion: 2.0.1-0ubuntu14 Architecture: i386 Date: Sat Oct 27 14:19:19 2012 IfupdownConfig: auto lo iface lo inet loopback InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 10.04 LTS "Lucid Lynx" - Release i386 (20100429) IpRoute: default via 10.64.64.64 dev ppp0 proto static 10.64.64.64 dev ppp0 proto kernel scope link src 77.210.57.189 169.254.0.0/16 dev ppp0 scope link metric 1000 NetworkManager.state: [main] NetworkingEnabled=true WirelessEnabled=true WWANEnabled=true ProcEnviron: TERM=xterm PATH=(custom, user) LANG=en_US.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash SourcePackage: network-manager UpgradeStatus: Upgraded to precise on 2012-05-17 (162 days ago) mtime.conffile..etc.NetworkManager.NetworkManager.conf: 2012-08-30T13:38:55.126319 nmcli-dev: DEVICE TYPE STATE DBUS-PATH ttyUSB0 gsm connected /org/freedesktop/NetworkManager/Devices/21 wlan0 802-11-wireless disconnected /org/freedesktop/NetworkManager/Devices/1 eth0 802-3-ethernet unavailable /org/freedesktop/NetworkManager/Devices/0 nmcli-nm: RUNNING VERSION STATE NET-ENABLED WIFI-HARDWARE WIFI WWAN-HARDWARE WWAN running 0.9.4.0 connected enabled enabled enabled enabled enabled ** Affects: network-manager (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: apport-bug i386 package-from-proposed precise running-unity -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1072063 Title: Repeatedly fails to connect to Mobile Broadbang until you disconnect and reconnect the modem To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/network-manager/+bug/1072063/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
