Public bug reported: I'm getting very poor results when printing photographs on my Epson Stylus Photo R1800 - low saturation and unsharp images - since upgrading from 10.04 to 12.04.
When trying to resolve this using Printing=>Printer Properties=>Make and Model=>Change, I get an error messsage which tells me this actions is "Not supported by this backend", and advising me to report it as a bug - I've attached a screenshot. 1) michael@Linley6:~$ lsb_release -rd Description: Ubuntu 12.04.1 LTS Release: 12.04 2) michael@Linley6:~$ apt-cache policy cups cups: Installed: 1.5.3-0ubuntu4 Candidate: 1.5.3-0ubuntu4 Version table: *** 1.5.3-0ubuntu4 0 500 http://gb.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ precise-updates/main i386 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status 1.5.2-9ubuntu1 0 500 http://gb.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ precise/main i386 Packages 500 http://ubuntu.mirror.cambrium.nl/ubuntu/ precise/main i386 Packages michael@Linley6:~$ 3) I expected to be able to install an alternative driver for my printer. 4) I got an error message. ** Affects: cups (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Attachment added: "Screenshot from 2012-10-28 23:04:56.png" https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1072581/+attachment/3417220/+files/Screenshot%20from%202012-10-28%2023%3A04%3A56.png -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1072581 Title: Can't install printer drivers for Epson R1800 in 12.04 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cups/+bug/1072581/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
