Playing with 14.10 and I'm still trying to figure this out... Why the
plymouth borks when vga and video options are used.

I see that you're passing a non-standard 'vga=791' boot option here.
It's possible this is interfering with the radeon framebuffer in some
way. If you drop this boot option, does the problem go away?

On this video card framebuffer worked 3 years with this option. Returned
the default, but remained framebuffer and Returned and went to download
with text on a black screen. Plymouth not working.
