Greg Vallande, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been

Recently tested with the linux-
image-3.8.0-030800rc5-generic_3.8.0-030800rc5.201301251535_amd64 and
the device lists as dummy output as the only audio device. The bug
still exists.

Do the HDMI controls return if you boot a prior kernel? This may be a
bug in gnome-control-center versus the kernel.
