FWIW performance been a lot better with recent Linux kernel releases. Am
on 3.7.1 currently.

Got this failed boot error 3 times in a row today. Hangs on last line
and i manually shut down pc to restart.

Unfortunately, startup exhibits exactly the same bevahiour with the 3.7
kernel. I have read in another post that one problem could be that a
script is not properly unmounting the partition on shutdown and
therefore leaving it in an erroneous state for bootup. Is there any easy
way to check for
Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer
to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest
v3.7 kernel[0] (Not a kernel in the daily directory) and install both
the linux-image and linux-image-extra .deb packages.
