My understanding is that this bug has already been squashed in Raring Ringtail (see bug #1074574), so it's a known issue with a known fix going forward. My concern is that it hasn't been backported to Precise Pangolian (12.04 LTS). LTS versions of Ubuntu are the ones used in production
