the same thing happens when I try to install ubuntu 7, not xubuntu. The
installation stops at 90% with the same message...
I've got a 400mhz powermac g4 with 768 m of ram and a 40mb WD "passport" usb
drive i will try the alternate :-(

I Finally Installed Ubuntu on my G3
I had to use the "alternate install cd" and I Installed just the basic
system first
then I went to command line and I installed the rest of packages!
everything running fine now !

I can confirm that I have exactly the same problem with the same module
- installation hangs at 91% with the aec62xx module, but mine is the
AMD64 version of Kubuntu 7.04.
Is there a workaround so I can install Kubuntu?

latests releases of Desktop and Alternate PPC Ubuntu Images
this time I decided to try Ubuntu neither xUbuntu.

The final version of Xubuntu has been released could you please try with
that and report back. The proper package for this bug is probably
linux-source-2.6.20 as it is most likely a kernel driver issue.

I Used for testing 3 images
the first one:

than I tried with 6.10 and 6.06
I thought that it could be a problem with my machine, but OsX runs ok,
and gentoo Linux runs and install ok !
