Public bug reported: I started on a freshly installed Kubuntu 12.10 machine. I installed "ledgersmb" and answered to 1. Username and password for the administration 2. A password to access the database (also freshly installed) Password in #1 and #2 were different, to try to understand.
Once installation got declared "finished" I pointed my browser to http://127.0.0.1/ledgersmb/setup.pl I got asked for Username/password/database. I put there the credentials at point #1. Then I god an HTTP authentication request where I put "ledgersmb" as user and the password for point #2. Then I got a database creation page. I asked to create it.
