this bug is highly driver dependent. lots of use chipsets should work in
hardy and intrepid for hidden networks. If you still see an issue,
please report independent bugs for your particular chipset.

I have the same issue with 8.04. If the ssid is broadcast I can connect,
if the ssid is not broadcast I cannot connect. If you need debugging
done, please let me know and I am willing to help.
