I experience the same, in a 13.04 Lenovo Thinkpad X201s with i915 graphics. Updated but not upgraded to 13.10. Latest BIOS flashed yesterday. Problem existed before and after flashing. The following phrase (copied from another comment) describes my experience exactly: After a few minutes it

Sorry, regarding my last comment, the last sentence of the quoted text is not accurate for me, as I explained later in the comment. Also, should I gather more info? Using apport-bug --save /tmp/foo.apport from a new tty while the X system is frozen? Or restart it and then invoke apport-bug?
