[Bug 1085536] Re: Xubuntu has firefox-globalmenu package witch it cant use

It means that the functionality to provide a menubar to the shell is now built in to Firefox where it should have been all along, rather than as a separate addon and package -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.

This bug is irrelevant now, as the addon has been dropped and the functionality merged in to our Firefox build instead ** Changed in: firefox (Ubuntu) Status: Triaged => Won't Fix -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu.

Apparently, the package hasn't ballooned in the main archive as it's still around ~50k. I'll keep this in mind in case Xubuntu needs the space (I doubt 100k will make a difference), but at this point, I'm not going to do anything with it. The package is a Recommends, so it can be removed from one

Note: A parallel issue affects Thunderbird with its corresponding dependency in the form of the thunderbird-globalmenu package. That package similarly creates an Extension in Thunderbird which is not functional and unusable in any desktop other than Ubuntu's Unity. See https://bugs.launchpad.net/

Hi Chris. I am inclined to suggest that logic suggests otherwise, and that you are turning the issue upside down in your post #5. Firefox only needs to meet the freedesktop.org specifications for user interface compatibility. If Unity deviates so as to require a special module to integrate Firef

No, no it shouldn't. The answer is to finally get this functionality implemented in Firefox core, and then we wouldn't be having this discussion because nobody would notice it was even there -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubun

This used to not be an issue since the package was under 50k, but the size seems to be ballooning (150k with Firefox 18), so maybe it should be a suggests for firefox with Enhances: firefox on the globalmenu package itself. We can seed it for Ubuntu so Ubuntu isn't affected by this change. ** Cha
