I can confirm that this broke sometime between the 20121129 and 20121202
image if that helps. I don't have the interim images handy at the moment
but if I can dig them up somewhere, I'll try to test with those as well.
Hopefully this gives a starting place to look though.

3d acceleration under display properties, I'm able to boot up to the

I can confirm that this also happens in virtualox. With a dell laptop,
using the amd64 image, I do not see the compiz crash, and I'm able to
successfully boot to the desktop.
