My laptop is a Dell 14z - 5423 and it comes with both Intel HD400 and a
ATI Radeon 7550M/7570M/7650M, so, perhaps this is where the problem
comes from. I'm using 13.04 too.

I just did a clean install of 13.04 Raring Ringtail and this still
occurs (on my first boot, unfortunately!)

Found the problem - had to install nvidia-current as was using the open
source drivers - unlock screen now legible.

I have a problem with the unlock screen - it doesnt randomly not appear but it
does appear as corrupted (screenshot attached). This is consistent. I've seen
it appear OK once but predominantly it's corrupted. This may be a different bug
in which case I'm happy to raise a new one.
Looks like a vi
