Bug claims to be a Feisty-specific issue, and Feisty is no longer
supported. As bug has had no activity since Gutsy was released, I am
closing this as an Invalid bug.

Yes, I forgot I ever filed these bugs. The issue has been getting
progressively and Ubuntu is now at the point where compiz works just by
booting off the CD without changing anything. We all appreciate the hard
work.

Thank you for the response.
I wasn't able to make it to the installer; when trying to boot into
Ubuntu from the CD, it gave me an error and sent me to the terminal.
It turned out that my video card is an ATI mobility X1400. and the
installer didn't pick that up for some reason. I ended up
Colin, I created a new LV for Feisty from before installing, but I didn't
create a filesystem inside the LV.
Installer gave no visible warnings about this during the install.

It seems that /target/lib/modules/2.6.20-15-generic does not exist yet when
volumeid package is installed and update-initramfs is invoked at first time.
I created the directory manually before d-i installed volumeid package and was
able to complete the install without errors.
