By use of the information logged under Bug #94859 I managed to 'see' the
wireless adapter in: system/configuration/network/connections as well as
in the output of

I'm a fonero and not special configuration is needed. Only connect to
MyPlace or FON_AP nets and fun! ;-)

I do not see MyPlace or FON_AP nets in
system/configuration/network/connections. Rather wlan0 and something
similar. At least not on my ubuntu box (they are up and running as I can
connect via my company laptop

wlan0 is the name of your card. Use the network-manager icon to detect
your wireless networks and connect to it
