Indeed, it is very anoying to make presntation. Just want to say that
i'm still have this bug. Iread somewhere it is because nvidia delete a
feature to retrieve the resolution. I read that a long time ago, but i
think it is xrand that use this feature. The old version of xrand use
another feature
I'm tempted to switch back to Windows because of this bug... =(
I use my laptop to do presentations demos all the time, and this bug
makes presenting very annoying!

I have this problem on my two laptops. Very ennoying when making
presentation (because i cannot choose the resolution, i cannot use the
clone mode
It seems that's most games can change the resolution.

Problem is still reproducible with driver 313.18 from PPA.
The game Uplink can set the video resolution to other (supported) values
than native (and shows them in the options menu). Either Uplink guesses
valid resolutions or can detect them correctly -- using them does work,
however, so only the
Status changed to 'Confirmed' because the bug affects multiple users.
