no i think it is a driver issue.. i also have the same problem and the
wifi seems to work properly when i am booting on windows 7

I believe I have discovered what the issue might be. I don't believe
this is driver related in my case. What I did was opened up the bottom
of the laptop and discovered that there is only one antenna lead (black)
not 2. What I did was swapped the terminal that the wire was connected
to, moved
If you're looking for a possible workaround, I was having problems with
my AR9485 wireless card (Sony Vaio, using ath9k) constantly
disconnecting, and the problem went away when I connected using wifi-
radar.
