Computer is working ok now I ended up doing the following: Installed a lamp configuration with server install disk Installed generic kernel due to PAE problem with laptop Installed ubuntu-desktop Still had erratic lockups - Removed powernowd and apmd Installed powersaved an dependencies Solved.
