It happened again and I manage to ssh on the affected machine and get
some traces from dmesg. This log section is constantly repeating there
in the moment of the crash:

This issue appears to be an upstream bug, since you tested the latest
upstream kernel. Would it be possible for you to open an upstream bug
report[0]? That will allow the upstream Developers to examine the
issue, and may provide a quicker resolution to the bug.

Happens with the upstream kernel. There is an error that flashes on
screen in that moment and is visible for just some parts of a second. I
managed to copy it by hand:
drm_run_callback(): pnp_bus_resume+0x0/0x70 returns -19
