I see the same problem using Gutsy 7.10 on an MSI MB with ICH9R and two
Seagate Barracuda SATA drives. I first installed XP on the fresh drives
setup as RAID1. Then I attempted to install kubuntu. Dmraid was able to
activate the volume fine and I added an extended partition and logical
partitions f

finally I could try the beta but there still s bad news, same issue,
booting from the beta cd is enough to make offline 1 of the raid 0
membered hdd. indeed I wonder what was changed after 6.10 releases and
they creates this problem with western dijital disks:)

Same issue on Gigabyte P35C-DS3R with ICH9R south bridge and
Gutsy.Only Fedora 8 seems OK...correctly recognizes my Raid0 (2 x
WD5000AAKS-)
Unfortunately my motherboard can not even boot from the PATA if i have the Raid
option on SATA :-(

My drives are Western Digital Caviar SE16 WD5000AAKS 500GB. I'm
confident that this will get taken care of eventually, but right now I
am a little disappointed. I've been running Ubuntu (on my old box)
since Edgy Eft, and I really love it. I was looking forward to trying

since my last post i didn't try it anymore. As i am needing my computer nearly
every day i can't go in the risk of losing all my data again and so i gave it
up. Maybe i am buying a new computer whose hardware works better with linux.

same problem. indeed I cant understand that although I ve no problem in
6.10 with same setup why I ve this problem with newer ubuntu version's.

at least i tried to install kubuntu feisty on my hpt370 raid array. I followed
the instructions in the tutorial from

(2.6.16) to the new system onto the raid i suddenly cant get any access via
dmraid anymore.
and two days ago I tried to compile kernel 2.6.21.1 and this was the
first kernel compiling experience:). after kernel compiled ı installed
but the same issue was in there. ı used .configure from edgy installed
on raid0 to compile kernel. although I managed to install the new kernel
there had been
