The powernowd package is obsolete, please do not use it. CPU frequency
scaling is now handled by the kernel, so if you still have issues on a
modern release, file a bug against the linux package.

Similar problem still around in 10.04 LTS Lucid.
My keyboard and/or mouse hang up at random intervals, and once they hang up,
the only cure is to reboot the machine.
My system has no PS/2 connections, just USB. There are no legacy settings in
the BIOS.
This is the only system on which I have

that is: random key board hang with mouse still working and mouse actions
gradually degrading.
