Right after a completely new clean install of Feisty (I don't believe in upgrading dists since it has gone wrong too many times) I installed de pptp plugin for network manager, when I tried to connect to my VPN server the connection timed out or failed (not sure which of the two it was). This

As far as I know, Ubuntu is installed with IPTables installed by default. I know this because after a clean install I can check iptables and I get a list of rules applied. So by default there does seem to be a firewall installed. Firestarter that gets installed is merely the GUI part. In any
