Public bug reported: I was trying to help a friend (trying Ubuntu for the first time) install Adobe Acrobat Reader since he needs to view a PDF which needs javascript support. To make sure it'd work for him I was first doing this on my machine (12.04). It didn't show in my software centre so I went to edit -> software sources and enabled "Canonical Partners" (where I believe it lives). It still didn't appear in searches even after restarting the software centre. There was no offer to update the package database.
I was determined to do this without the command line so I installed synaptic from the software centre and searched that for acroread -- it appears. I then opened software centre again and now it does appear in searches. Seems like a bug -- when enabling new software sources it should really do an update. ** Affects: software-center (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1111905 Title: No update following enabling extra software sources To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/software-center/+bug/1111905/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
