The crash only happens on my new notebook, which has a SATA hard disk.
Not on my older desktop PC, which has an IDE hard disk.

I have found out, that the crash only happens when the "system monitor
applet" is active on the lower panel. Possibly because both Gparted and
this applet keep a check on the partitions on my hard drive?
