Running Ubuntu Gutsy (7.10) with OpenOffice 1:2.3.0-ubuntu5. My testing
has been exclusively with the Utopia font provided by the gsfonts-other
(6.0-3.2ubuntu1).
The version of Utopia provided with the gsfonts-other package does not include
the Adobe Font Matrix files need by OpenOffice.org [1].
I believe this problem may be fixed in Ubuntu 7.10 (Gutsy)
OpenOffice.org 1:2.3.0~rc1-1ubuntu2. When I tried to view the font
selection list it showed me all available fonts on my system. Though
this problem doesn't always show up for me in any case... :-\ Can you
try to test with the updated
The missing fonts problem is solved (at least for me). And the Gdk-CRITICAL
problems that showed up when starting from the console are also gone. I am
using version 2.3.0~rc1-1ubuntu2.

I don't see this exact issue but I do see something similar where a
substantially smaller amount of fonts sometimes shows up than is normal
on 2.2.0-1ubuntu4.

Very strange, however...
I have another feisty machine and here the feisty's openoffice 2.2.0 does not
show any of the above font issues.
So I wonder what does trigger the problem.

I can confirm this on an upgraded edgy to feisty machine.
Unfortunately, the inability to use styles makes Feisty's Openoffice unsuitable
for anything serious.

A solution is clearly to install the Openoffice.org's Openoffice via
alien - this version (2.2.1) is fine on feisty.

I have the same two problems: F11-modify missing fonts and slow (slow on
an AMD64 3500+; almost hanging on a 1.1Ghz, 240MB RAM P III laptop)

F11-modify window when you select the fonts tab).

Confirmed, i have the same problem, but i woudl say that SEVERAL fonts
are not recognized as i have the regular ones that come with ubuntu
and all the windows fonts, but I only can choose from 10 or so.
