The Ubuntu Kernel Team is planning to move to the 2.6.27 kernel for the
upcoming Intrepid Ibex 8.10 release. As a result, the kernel team would
appreciate it if you could please test this newer 2.6.27 Ubuntu kernel.
There are one of two ways you should be able to test:
1) If you are comfortable
This problem persists in Hardy with kernel 2.6.24-17-generic. I noticed

but don't know if it works. Sorry, i'm a newbie.

Also happens for me in Hardy.
I agree that this bug should have its importance bumped up especially
considering that this is a LTS release and KVM is supposed to be a big
feature.

The problem persists for me in Hardy, only adding kvm kvm_intel to
MODULES doesn't seem to help.
Any problem that summarily takes down the whole machine is of more than
Medium importance, IMO.

I can also confirm this with 2.6.22-10. Sure took me a while to hunt
this down.

I can still confirm this behavior on gutsy tribe-4 2.6.22-9 kernel.
Adding kvm and kvm-intel to the /etc/default/acpi-support list of
modules to unload prior to suspending allows my machine to resume from
suspend. Otherwise, the machine (a dell latitude D620) will hang on
resume.

Hi,
I still can confirm, that my Thinkpad X60s can be supended (via klaptop) and
woken up via FN-Moon, unless the kvm module is loaded. As workaround you can
blacklist the modues in /etc/default/acpi-support, but this doesnt help if a
kvm machine is up and running: The modules cannot be
I see this has been moved to 2.6.22/gutsy, but original report is
against 2.6.20. No mention of it actually being tested against
gutsy/2.6.22, so I consider this report incomplete.

Cannot resume from suspend with kvm
I can confirm this bug on a Lenovo Thinkpad X60s. With the modules
loaded, I cannot resume from suspend.
On resume, the moon symbol just keeps on, and nothing happens. I need to
remove battery and external power in order to reboot.

It happens with me also. I am not able to suspend / hibernate.

I found following work around :
In file /etc/defaults/acpi-support replace following line,

I can confirm this on my Dell D620. I see the following in my dmesg.
Removing kvm and kvm-intel prior to suspend fixes the problem, and the
computer will then resume correctly.
