It looks like that was the problem :) I've set it to be activated after
2 hours of idle, didn't have the brightness problem anymore

I have no idea, it's set to be activated after 10 minutes of idle. I'll
take it to two hours and/or disable it to see if that fixes it

When I upgraded from edgy to ubuntu feisty, nvidia-glx was installed on its own.
I own a GeForce 6600 GT
I've attached the /etc/X11/xorg.conf and /var/log/Xorg.0.log
