This problem has been fixed on my computer for quite some time now - I
guess one of the flash updates corrected it. So, if noone else has
problems anymore, this bug can be closed.

I think i have the same problem because my xorg processor usage goes way
up when flash is enabled but i can only see the xorg process with the
command "sudo top". can someone confirm that this is the same bug?

Some of the problems listed in the comments are related more with javascript.
Both flash and javascript are known to work less efficiently in linux compared
with windows or macintosh.
However, developers are working to correct the issue.

This thing needs to be fixed, I don't know if anyone has noticed, but with
increased cpu usage, the cpu temperature goes up as well... Please find a
solution!

I confirm that gnash works the same for me as for Sergio on the
matrixsynth page (white box without contents).
However when I start http://www.wp.pl and open some 5-10 links from
"Wiadomości" or "Sport" sections in tabs, my system becomes very

With gnash cpu I have several gtk-gnash processes (I guess one for
each flash content in webpage) but one of them stays at about 33-34 %
with gtk-gnash process (others at about 2% each one)
firefox-bin process is ok, few percentage points.
The problem is I can't use gnash because I can't see cont

I confirm this issue, happens with me quite frequently.
For example, if you're on a blog and that blog has many youtube videos, Firefox
will just die 80 to 100% CPU load (Even if *None* of those videos is played
or has been played)

me. Firefox 2.0.0.5 on Kubuntu 7.04 on a 2.8GHz Celeron with 1GB RAM.

i have a new install, a new profile, no addons, no personal settings, the same

Can you provide a test case? e.g. an URL where this behavior can be
reproducible always.
It is important that you try to reproduce it with a *fresh* profile
(hints at [1]) because it might be caused by a buggy third party add-on.

and, what i found out, when firefox is open, then all other programs
aare slow, for example the resize of the terminal window or move it fast
around stucks a little bit.
